Hey, I am Yingyan : )
Hi! I'm a UX/UI Designer based in the SF Bay Area. With over 8 years of experience as a software engineer (mainly in Android development), I bring a strong technical background and a deep understanding of software design. As a former tech lead, I excel in managing timelines, effective communication, and cross-functional collaboration with engineers, product managers, and UX researchers. I also enjoy mentoring junior team members and fostering a growth-oriented environment.
My interest in user experience grew through close collaboration with UX designers, leading me to pursue a UI/UX Design Specialization certificate and a Graphic Design Specialization certificate through Coursera. My technical expertise enhances my logical thinking, understanding of user interactions, and ability to incorporate accessibility and material design principles. I leverage data-driven insights, A/B testing, and user behavior tracking to continuously improve the user experience.

My Understanding of UX
I believe great design goes beyond looks and it creates meaningful connections between users and digital experiences. I prefer clean designs that are visually appealing and easy to use, reducing mental effort for users. Personally I like Airbnb app design because of its minimalist design, a well-organized layout, a consistent color palette and user-friendly navigation.
By focusing on both simplicity and functionality, I aim to make interactions straightforward and enjoyable, helping users feel more comfortable with the digital products.
Exploring museums around the world
Not UXing?
I'm a passionate traveler and museum enthusiast, and I have visited over 100 museums. These experiences enhance my empathy for diverse users, enabling me to design more inclusive and meaningful UX. History museums have expanded my understanding of cultural development, while art museums have sharpened my aesthetic sensibility and inspired fresh ideas. My recent favorite is the Sanxingdui Museum Wiki, showcasing a mysterious Bronze Age civilization with innovative bronze work and a distinct aesthetic.
